BT Broadband – New Hub is Faster
I just received a new Black BT Hub as I had agreed to another 12 month BT Broadband and the offer included a new BT Hub. Now while it did take 2 e-mail contacts to get the 12 months contract sorted out after the intial telephone call from BT Sales I now forgive them for making a total cock up of the order as I am delighted with the new BT router, it is at least 30% faster than my 2 year old BT router, both on a direct network connection and on a wireless connection to a laptop. So, if you are on a BT broadband contract contact BT Sales and ask if they have any deals that include a free Broadband router for taking out an additional 12 month contract and you to may be surprised (delighted) with the increased speed. I have to admit at this point that it is possible that my replace router was faulty in some way as I had been experiencing problems with it. However getting a router worth £90 free just to agree a 12 month broadband contract when I had every intention of staying with BT in the first place is an amazing good deal.
Links Directory
A number of years ago I set up a number of directories using software from Mr CGI Guy and I actually purchased a licence for all the products. For one reason or other I stopped putting a links directory on my website and stopped using the scripts (although I still have a licence to use them). Today I came across a website that had implemented a Links Directory to have travel accommodation listed, this is similar to my original plan and it was using the software called PHP Link Directory – I am pretty impressed with the software and it costs from $30 a directory.
For a while Google was not giving directories using scripts such as these any Page Rank however as I have discovered it does not appear to be relevant if a page has a PR or not, it can still get listed well in a search engine without a page rank, so I again may investigate using software to create an online directory.
Norton Internet Security 2010
I have been using Norton Internet Security 2010 for the last couple of months after having dropped Kasperky due to the affect it was having on my desktop computer, it basically slowed everything down and made my computer feel like an ancient computer rather than a spanking new Dell desktop with 4GB Ram and more. Well I can tell you that I am very happy with the decision as my computer is now running a lot faster and it is all due to changing over anti-virus and internet security software. If you want to try out Norton Internet Security 2010 for six months free then get down to your newsagents and buy the June 2010 issue of PC Pro magazine (DVD edition) and you will get a trial version for 180 days free. Then pop over to Amazon and buy your software a lot cheaper than upgrading online.
