Scripts for Web Development
I just came across PHPJabbers – a website that has several very useful scripts for developing holiday booking websites. Why was this of interest, well recently I was asked by a friend if I could add a booking calendar for a number of holiday cottages that they manage. At the time I did not have the time to look into this for him, however as I was looking for a slideshow script for another friend’s website I came across the excellent http://www.phpjabbers.com
HTML5
There is a buzz about the the new web standards and I have started to put together a page on HTML5 books and online resources.
Links Directory
A number of years ago I set up a number of directories using software from Mr CGI Guy and I actually purchased a licence for all the products. For one reason or other I stopped putting a links directory on my website and stopped using the scripts (although I still have a licence to use them). Today I came across a website that had implemented a Links Directory to have travel accommodation listed, this is similar to my original plan and it was using the software called PHP Link Directory – I am pretty impressed with the software and it costs from $30 a directory.
For a while Google was not giving directories using scripts such as these any Page Rank however as I have discovered it does not appear to be relevant if a page has a PR or not, it can still get listed well in a search engine without a page rank, so I again may investigate using software to create an online directory.
