5 out of 5 stars A fantastic journey down memory lane   September 18, 2007

I read this book as a child, which led to my interest in History. I was delighted when I rediscovered this book on Amazon and spent many hours reading through the 'stories'. I would recommend this to anyone wishing to relive their literary childhood and also to read to your own children.

5 out of 5 stars Great for kids of all ages   August 11, 2007

When I say that my children 10,9, and 7, want to go to bed in order to hear the latest chapter, I am not exaggerating. This is in no doubt their favourite book of all time and is not only an excellent story but a great opportunity to dip in to, to answer any awkward questions that are asked of us!
Short chapters and brief paragraphs make it enjoyable even for my 7 year old to pick up. A great family favourite and a smashing gift for all.

When I heard that Stephen Fry liked this book, I knew I had to see it. And no wonder - it's fantastic, and the cartoons are amazing. All my Christmas present worries this year are at an end!
